About this event.

Meet contributors to The Times’s “Smarter Living,” which dispenses expert advice on living a better, smarter, more fulfilling life, through health, home, technology and relationships. Tap the brains of Kristin Wong, who focuses on personal finance; Jolie Kerr, a wizard of cleaning; regular writer Jen Doll, on work-life and office culture; and founding editor Tim Herrera, who will moderate. Learn about their backgrounds, explore the evolution of “Smarter Living” and address some life’s vexing challenges at this “Fix Your Life” event.

She's been writing for Smarter Living since 2017 and frequently writes about career, finance, and human behavior. She's discussed her work on WNYC, Buzzfeed's AM2DM, and NPR's Life Kit. Tim Herrera


founding editor of Smarter Living, where he edits and reports stories about living a better, more fulfilling life. Before coming to the Times, he was a reporter and digital strategist at the Washington Post, and previously he was a metro reporter for amNewYork and Newsday. He graduated from New York University with degrees in Anthropology and Journalism, and he lives in New York.

Jolie Kerr


cleaning expert, advice columnist and host of the podcast, Ask a Clean Person. author of the New York Times bestselling book, My Boyfriend Barfed In My Handbag ... And Other Things You Can't Ask Martha. Her work has appeared in GQ, Cosmopolitan, The New York Times and Town & Country. Jolie is a graduate of Barnard College; she lives in a tiny Manhattan apartment with her five vacuum cleaners.

Jen Doll


 freelance journalist and the author of the young adult novel Unclaimed Baggage as well as the memoir Save the Date: The Occasional Mortifications of a Serial Wedding Guest. She writes a work advice column for WeWork called Work Flow. She's also written for The Atlantic, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Topic, The Village Voice, The Week, and other publications.
